Past, Present and Future in Wood

This project grew from a practical need, but carried a deeper intention: transforming without distorting. Changing everything while leaving everything as it was.

Some parts of a home may seem secondary, until we imagine the space without them. It’s in those quiet details, like a stube, an old sofa or a chandelier, that we find the emotional core of a place.

Description

The project began with a 1970s home. At the heart of it all, both physically and emotionally, stood the ancient stube. Untouchable, to be respected, to be preserved exactly as it was.

Old spruce was carefully selected, reclaimed from existing floors and crafted to enhance its timeworn character. This wood was then used to create new flooring and to line walls and ceilings in the kitchen and bedroom. The result was a space where warmth and consistency come together to tell a quiet story.

The true harmony of the project lies in its restraint. Every choice was made in service of the stube, allowing it to breathe and remain the silent center of the home.
