There is a universal desire we all share: to stop time. To hold on to a moment, an emotion, a feeling.
Antiqued wood was born from this very aspiration. Every grain tells a story from the past that blends with the present, carrying with it a charm that doesn’t fade but transforms. Through the antiquing process, time isn’t erased: it’s celebrated and enriched with beauty.

What is antiqued wood, and why choose it?

Antiqued wood is a material treated to give it a lived-in look, featuring aesthetic qualities that mimic wood naturally aged over time.
But choosing antiqued wood is not just an aesthetic decision: it’s also a commitment to quality. Thanks to the treatments it undergoes, the wood gains enhanced stability and durability. Evaporation and drying improve its longevity, while artisanal craftsmanship highlights its unique beauty.
That’s why, at Venaturae, we offer a range of antiqued wood solutions, with Val Pusteria being a prime example.
Val Pusteria: An Antiqued Larch Panel that Honors the Past
The Val Pusteria panel, made from antiqued alpine larch, pays tribute to the mountains, forests of Trentino-South Tyrol, and the timeless beauty of wood.
It carries the charm of a material where time is celebrated, synonymous with character and authenticity. Behind every piece of antiqued wood lies a precise process designed to blend the material’s natural qualities with the allure of history.
Antique Woodworking
Our workmanship follows a meticulous process, blending technological innovation with traditional craftsmanship.
The lumber, carefully selected from the forests of Trentino-Alto Adige, is transported to our facilities where processing begins. It undergoes evaporation and subsequent drying, crucial steps that enhance its natural color and improve its stability.
The grain deepens, the texture strengthens, and the wood develops a lived-in patina that gives it unmistakable character.
We process the material using state-of-the-art machinery to ensure precision and consistent quality, but the true distinctive touch comes from the skilled hands of our artisans. Their expertise and sensitivity transform each panel into a unique piece, ideal for wall coverings, flooring, or furniture elements.
Val Pusteria is made in different configurations to meet every need:
- Three-layer panels, single- or double-sided, perfect for interior design
- Three-layer coatings, ideal for adding character to walls
- Three-layer flooring, built for timeless durability
- Solid wood beadings and door panels
