Catinaccio: The Wooden Panel that Brings Rhythm and Light into the Space

Light as a Design Matter

Light, when it meets the right surface, stops being a background element and becomes the main protagonist.
Catinaccio was created to highlight this interaction. It is a panel made from reclaimed old spruce, designed to add depth, rhythm, and materiality to any space.

Its three-dimensional surfaces, tinted chocolate and gray, with saw marks, create a continuous dialogue with natural light, producing shifting chiaroscuro throughout the day

A Wooden Panel with an Ancient History and a Contemporary Vision

Catinaccio is crafted from exterior boards of old wooden homes, exposed to the elements for years. This lived-in history has left behind a unique, natural, authentic, and non-replicable oxidized patina.

Thanks to a controlled evaporation process, Catinaccio acquires an even richer and more structured presence:

  • The color evens out and reveals its full depth, highlighting its natural veins
  • Its surface becomes more textured, enhancing the reliefs and marks left by time

It is a process that doesn’t hide but rather amplifies the identity of the material.

Three-dimensional Surface, Moving Light

The distinctive feature of Catinaccio is its relief surface: each board displays variations in thickness and texture that create a dynamic visual effect.

It is an architectural element that helps structure the perception of space. In bright environments, the panel responds elegantly to natural light, creating a lively and dynamic atmosphere.

Textural Pairings for Contemporary Projects

Catinaccio fits perfectly into modern settings, interacting with materials that have stronger lines:

  • With glass, for a contrast between lightness and materiality
  • With metal, to reinforce contemporary rigor
  • With light stone, for a warm and refined balance

Its deep color, ranging between chocolate brown and oxidized gray, creates a bold yet never overpowering visual effect.

A Panel for Those who Design with Matter

Choosing Catinaccio means working with a natural, reclaimed wood panel that combines tradition and technique, time and form.

It is designed for architects, interior designers, and individuals who seek materials that are expressive, alive, and consistent with the vision of the space.
